The Charities

The Multiple Sclerosis Society
"The Multiple Sclerosis Society seemed the obvious choice of charity for me, as my father has suffered from this crippling disease for over twenty years.  The Society funds MS research, runs respite care centres, provides financial assistance, education and training on MS".  Simon

Macmillan Cancer Support
"My main reason for supporting Macmillan Cancer Support is Dave Piper, who died in 2002 at the age of 63. Dave was a confidante to me during my rebellious stages. Dave received the support of Macmillan during his illness. I would also like to pay tribute to the courage of Mary Eggleton who lost her 10 year battle with Lymphoma, just days before I left for Africa on our last fundraising mission. Macmillan improves the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support. " Alex

Shelterbox
Shelterbox respond instantly to natural and manmade disasters by delivering boxes of aid to those who are most in need. Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless. Having travelled through many of the countries who have received their support we can see the importance of this charity and the support they give in adversity. www.shelterbox.org

Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes supports our wounded servicemen and women and provides practical direct support to those injured in the line of duty in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. We owe so much to these people who put their lives at risk for our freedom. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Heybridge Pre-School Association
We have also chosen to support the Heybridge Pre-school, which is the only venue for under 5’s education and care in Heybridge.  It is of vital importance to the families in the community, many of whom cannot afford to pay expensive nursery fees . It only receives a small fraction of its staffing costs from Government subsidies, all other costs being made up by parents and fundraising activities. It is run on a not-for-profit basis and is a registered charity.
